WESTBORO STREET ART

After moving to Westboro a few years ago, I have come to genuinly like this part of Ottawa. The drive to work went from a 45 minute fury-session in traffic, to a leisurely 5 minutes cruise down Churchill Avenue.  Groceries are a no-brainer, with the Superstore a few blocks away, and eating out has never been easier with lots of great restaurants on Richmond Road, with a good mix of specially food boutiques. Those are all things that I came to appreciated pretty quickly after the move. The street art in Westboro was something that didn’t quite stand out right away. More subtle and somehow hidden in plain sight, it took a bit longer to notice some and take in.  But as I got a chance to walk about and explore my new surroundings, I started to notice some remarkable artwork spread across the various store walls and facades on Richmond Road. So this summer, I came back with my camera in hand to try and document some of the great mural art in the neighbourhood. The photos above are my attempt at capturing  some of the interesting murals that I came across as I explored Westboro this summer.
